oak you

Midwestern US duo oak you crafts folk-inspired electronica utilizing a collage of celtic traditional melodies, evocative lyrics and lush synth arrangements woven around polyrhythmic electronic beats. Cole Quamme and Liam O'Brien met first as members of their other projects, The Fatty Acids and Holy Sheboygan respectively, and started working on recordings together in 2017. In 2019, the duo released their first EP on the PEOPLE platform, an experimental label created by Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and Aaron Dessner (The National), under the name OQ

After a year of performing backed by Milwaukee mainstays Caley Conway and Barry Clark (Field Report, adoptahighway, Tontine Ensemble), 2020 found the group sharing in the global hiatus with an uncertain direction for the future. In 2021, the two producers came together again and moved to a cooperative farm and vegetable CSA in rural Wisconsin where they built a small studio and resumed work on PANGEA, a five-part series of video installations. water, the single from part 1 of the series, will launch on their website on July 1st and the installation will be open to the public in select locations around Wisconsin throughout the month of July
